1 HOUSE RESOLUTION

2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of

3 Representatives are pleased to congratulate the members of the

4 Harristown Fire Protection District on the occasion of the

5 district's 50th anniversary; and

6 WHEREAS, The Harristown Fire Protection District was

7 formed in April of 1958; the department was the last fire

8 district formed by a referendum vote of residents in Macon

9 County; the Harristown Fire Protection District and its 25

10 volunteer firefighters/EMS First Responders currently protect

11 about 25 square miles of territory and 3,000 residents; and

12 WHEREAS, The Harristown Fire Protection District performs

13 a vital service for the citizens of Harristown, providing

14 emergency medical services, hazardous material operations

15 level response services, light, water, and ice rescue services,

16 search and recovery operations, carbon monoxide alarm

17 services, lifeline calls, and fire alarm services, among many

18 others; and

19 WHEREAS, In celebration of the district's 50th

20 anniversary, the Harristown Fire Protection District will hold

21 a Special 50th Anniversary Open House at the Harristown Fire

22 Station and Training Facility in Harristown on June 8, 2008;

1 therefore, be it

2 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE

3 NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we

4 congratulate the members of the Harristown Fire Protection

5 District on the occasion of the district's 50th anniversary and

6 wish them continued success and happiness in the future; and be

7 it further

8 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be

9 presented to the Harristown Fire Protection District as a

10 symbol of our esteem and respect.
