HOUSE RESOLUTION

    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3
Representatives are pleased to congratulate the coaches and 
4
players of the Richards High School Boys Basketball team in Oak 
5
Lawn on the occasion of winning the 4A State Championship 
6
Title; and

 
7
    WHEREAS, The Richards High School Boys Basketball team beat 
8
Zion-Benton 67-63 to win the 4A State Championship Title on 
9
March 15, 2008; the team finished the season with an impressive 
10
28-4 record; and

 
11
    WHEREAS, The Richards High School Boys Basketball team was 
12
led by forward Carl Richard, who played the entire 32 minutes 
13
of the championship game and scored 19 points and 8 rebounds; 
14
he was accompanied by Tommie Thomas, who posted 15 points and 7 
15
rebounds, Shaun Pratl, who posted 16 points and 8 rebounds, and 
16
Eliud Gonzalez, who also played the entire game, finishing with 
17
9 points and 5 rebounds; and

    WHEREAS, The members of the Richards High School Boys 
19
Basketball team are Mike Denson, Tyrone Roper, Eliud Gonzalez, 
20
Randall Rushing, Lamar Harvey, Corey Wolf, Shaun Pratl, Tommie 
21
Thomas, Sammy Olayan, Keith Sconiers, Carl Richard, Jeff 
22
Harris, Dwayne McGhee, Peter Danos, and Kyle Renken; the team's

head coach is John Chappetto and the assistant coaches are

Demetris McDaniel, Tim Baker, Derek Johnson, and Bill Judge;

and

    WHEREAS, The Richards High School Boys Basketball team 
5
serves as a model of hard work, integrity, and dedication for 
6
the people of the State of Illinois; therefore, be it

    RESOLVED, BY THE  HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
8
NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
9
congratulate the coaches and players of the Richards High 
10
School Boys Basketball team in Oak Lawn on the occasion of 
11
winning the 4A State Championship Title and wish them continued 
12
success and happiness in the future; and be it further

    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
14
presented to Richards High School Boys Basketball Head Coach 
15
John Chappetto as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
