| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives are pleased to honor Thomas L. Trueblood on his | ||||||
| 4 | recent retirement from International Truck and Engine | ||||||
| 5 | Organization (formerly Navistar and International Harvester | ||||||
| 6 | Company); and
| ||||||
| 7 | WHEREAS, Prior to his retirement, Tom served as Director, | ||||||
| 8 | Green Diesel Technology Public Affairs at International Truck | ||||||
| 9 | and Engine Corporation since February 2003, where he was a | ||||||
| 10 | major contributor to the successful efforts of implementing the | ||||||
| 11 | Green Diesel Technology Products and made opinion leaders, | ||||||
| 12 | including key government officials, customers, environmental | ||||||
| 13 | groups, and news media, aware that diesel technology is on a | ||||||
| 14 | path to near-zero emissions; and
| ||||||
| 15 | WHEREAS, Tom also served as Manager of Public Affairs at | ||||||
| 16 | International from March 1992 to February 2003, where he | ||||||
| 17 | managed the company's liaison with government officials | ||||||
| 18 | outside the United States, supporting its successful entry into | ||||||
| 19 | the Mexican and Brazilian markets; and
| ||||||
| 20 | WHEREAS, Prior to coming to International, Tom was a | ||||||
| 21 | Washington Representative from 1972-1977 for Business | ||||||
| 22 | International Corporation, a publishing and consulting company | ||||||
| |||||||
| |||||||
| 1 | providing information on worldwide business, economic, and | ||||||
| 2 | political conditions to companies interested in direct foreign | ||||||
| 3 | investment; and
| ||||||
| 4 | WHEREAS, Tom is a registered lobbyist with the United | ||||||
| 5 | States Congress and in Colorado, Illinois, Ohio, and Wisconsin; | ||||||
| 6 | and | ||||||
| 7 | WHEREAS, Tom is the Chairman of the State Legislative and | ||||||
| 8 | Public Relations Committees of the Engine Manufacturers | ||||||
| 9 | Association, immediate past Chairman of the U.S. Government's | ||||||
| 10 | Industry Sector Advisory Committee on Transportation, | ||||||
| 11 | Agricultural, Construction, and Mining Equipment, | ||||||
| 12 | Secretary/Treasurer of the Chicago Area Public Affairs Group, | ||||||
| 13 | and a member of the National Press Club; and
| ||||||
| 14 | WHEREAS,
Tom holds an M.A. in International Relations from | ||||||
| 15 | Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International | ||||||
| 16 | Studies and an A.B. from Occidental College; Tom also spent one | ||||||
| 17 | year of undergraduate study at the Institut d' Estudes | ||||||
| 18 | Politiques of the University of Paris, France; Tom's military | ||||||
| 19 | service includes serving in the Intelligence Branch of the U.S. | ||||||
| 20 | Army, including two years duty in the Panama Canal Zone; he | ||||||
| 21 | speaks, French, Spanish, and Portugese; therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 22 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||

| 1 | NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | ||||||
| 2 | congratulate Thomas L. Trueblood on his achievements and | ||||||
| 3 | retirement from International Truck and Engine Corporation; | ||||||
| 4 | and be it further
