HOUSE RESOLUTION

    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3
Representatives are pleased to congratulate the faculty, 
4
staff, and students of Glenbrook South High School in Glenview 
5
on the occasion of being named as the National GRAMMY Signature 
6
School by the GRAMMY Foundation; and

 
7
    WHEREAS, The GRAMMY Signature Schools program was created 
8
in 1998 to recognize top U.S. public high schools that are 
9
making an outstanding commitment to music education during an 
10
academic school year; awards are given annually to schools that 
11
maintain high quality music programs that foster and 
12
demonstrate the significant role music can play in the lives of 
13
their students, even in the face of financial challenges; and

 
14
    WHEREAS, After being picked as one of 14 finalists in the 
15
competition, Glenbrook South High School was picked to be one 
16
of three Gold recipients; Glenbrook South was then picked by a 
17
panel of top music educators and professionals, the GRAMMY 
18
Signature Schools' Blue Ribbon Committee, to be the National 
19
GRAMMY Signature School; as winners of the prestigious 
20
designation, Glenbrook South High School will receive a $10,000 
21
grant from the GRAMMY Foundation, which will go towards 
22
furthering their already fantastic musical program; and

    WHEREAS, Glenbrook South High School serves as a shining 
2
example of quality music education for the citizens of the 
3
State of Illinois, the nation, and the world at large; 
4
therefore, be it

    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
6
NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
7
congratulate the faculty, staff, and students of Glenbrook 
8
South High School in Glenview on the occasion of being named as 
9
the National GRAMMY Signature School and wish them continued 
10
success and happiness in the future; and be it further

 
11
    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
12
presented to Glenbrook South High School as a symbol of our 
13
esteem and respect.
