| HOUSE RESOLUTION

| WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of the |
| 3 |
| State of Illinois wish to honor John Mezera on his retirement |
| 4 |
| as City Manager for Joliet on March 31, 2008; and
|
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, He began work as a civil engineer for Joliet in |
| 6 |
| 1976; he worked as Director of Public Works from 1978 to 1981 |
| 7 |
| and Director of Public Service from 1981 to 1987; from 1987 to |
| 8 |
| today he has been the City Manager; and
|
| 9 |
| WHEREAS, He has overseen the development of two riverboat |
| 10 |
| casinos, the Route 66 Dragstrip, the Nascar Speedway, the |
| 11 |
| Autobahn Racetrack, Splash Station Waterpark, four new fire |
| 12 |
| stations, a new police station, the Black Road Library, and the |
| 13 |
| Historical Museum; and
|
| 14 |
| WHEREAS, He has played a major role in the development of |
| 15 |
| the minor league ballpark, the master storm sewer plan, the |
| 16 |
| wastewater treatment plant, ten water treatment plants, seven |
| 17 |
| deep wells, the City Center Riverwalk, and many other |
| 18 |
| improvements and additions to the City of Joliet; and
|
| 19 |
| WHEREAS, He was the recipient of the 2000 National Top Ten |
| 20 |
| Public Works Official of the Year Award; and the recipient of |
| 21 |
| the 2008 Cornerstone Services Award; therefore, be it |
