| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
| 3 |
| Representatives wish to congratulate Amy Skeen, Executive |
| 4 |
| Director of Girls in the Game (GIG), on being honored by the |
| 5 |
| National Council of Youth Sports as the recipient of the 2007 |
| 6 |
| Hershey's STRIVE (Sports Teach Respect, Initiative, Values and |
| 7 |
| Excellence) Local Youth Sports Administrator of the Year; and
|
| 8 |
| WHEREAS, Girls in the Game is a non-profit organization |
| 9 |
| that encourages girls in the Chicago area to participate in |
| 10 |
| sports activities for better health and fitness; and
|
| 11 |
| WHEREAS, Girls in the Game offers an assortment of sports |
| 12 |
| and health programs for girls, including an after-school |
| 13 |
| program in 20 high-need sites, a five-week summer camp, a |
| 14 |
| community outreach program, and a parent train-the-trainer |
| 15 |
| initiative; and
|
| 16 |
| WHEREAS, Under the leadership of Amy Skeen, the budget for |
| 17 |
| Girls in the Game has more than tripled in the last four years; |
| 18 |
| the program has been acknowledged by Chicago Mayor Richard M. |
| 19 |
| Daley for its outstanding service to the community and |
| 20 |
| award-winning programming; and
|
| 21 |
| WHEREAS, STRIVE honors adult leaders for their "heartfelt |
