HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Paul E. Forby of Benton, who passed away on January 1, 2008; Mr. Forby was the father of our colleague, Illinois State Senator Gary Forby; and

WHEREAS, Paul E. Forby was born December 23, 1924, in Makanda, the son of Homer Forby and Ethel (Maze) Forby; he was raised by his stepfather, Herbert Draper; he married the former Betty June Elkins on August 27, 1943; and

WHEREAS, He worked as a superintendent for E.T. Simonds for 18 years and then worked as a coal miner at Freeman Mine 6 in Waltonville for 19 years and retired at age 62; he was a member of UMWA, Benton Masonic Lodge, and the Shrine Temple and Steel City Baptist Church; he enjoyed golfing and camping with his wife, Betty, in Texas and Florida; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Forby was preceded in death by his parents; his stepfather, Herbert Draper; and one granddaughter, Melissa Forby; and

WHEREAS, Paul E. Forby is survived by his wife, Betty June Forby; his three sons, Illinois State Senator Gary Forby and wife, Angie, Mike Forby and wife, Glenda, and Eric Forby and wife, Amy; his eight grandchildren, Lisa Black and husband, Mike, Justin Forby, Jeremy and Mackenzie Fleetwood, Dustin Forby, Melissa Cole and husband, Kevin, and Jake and Zack Forby; his three great-grandchildren, Hanna Forby, and Trey and Chase Cole; his brother, Homer Forby and wife, Niecey; and several nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of Paul E. Forby; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Paul E. Forby as a symbol of our sincere sympathy.
