    AMENDMENT NO. ___.  Amend House Resolution 840 by replacing

everything after the heading with  the following:

    "WHEREAS, The United States Department of Veterans Affairs 
5
Veterans Health Administration (VHA) provides a broad spectrum 
6
of medical, prescription, surgical, and rehabilitative care 
7
for US veterans; and

 
8
    WHEREAS, The VHA's responsibilities also include the 
9
administration and operation of numerous outpatient clinics, 
10
hospitals, medical centers, and long-term care facilities for 
11
veterans; and

 
12
    WHEREAS, Veterans who have served our country are entitled 
13
to expect and receive consistently high-quality health care; 
14
and

 
15
    WHEREAS, The health care provided to our veterans is in

fact inadequate; therefore, be it

    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
3
NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
4
urge Congress and the United States government to ensure that 
5
adequate health care is mandatory for all veterans; and be it 
6
further

 
7
    RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be sent to each 
8
member of the Illinois Congressional delegation and to the 
9
United States Secretary of Veterans Affairs.".
