HOUSE RESOLUTION

    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3
Representatives are pleased to congratulate Dorothy Chiero on 
4
the occasion of being the recipient of the Charles E. Piper 
5
Award on November 3, 2007; and

 
6
    WHEREAS, Dorothy Chiero has been a tireless advocate of the 
7
Berwyn business community; she currently serves on the Berwyn 
8
Development Corporation's Ogden/Depot District TIF Committee 
9
and the Transit Oriented Development Steering Committee; she 
10
has been a valued employee of the Bellair Expediting Service 
11
for 31 years; she and her husband own 2 businesses, Cabin Fever 
12
and AWESOME Past Service, in Berwyn's Depot District; she was 
13
also instrumental in the formation of the Berwyn Development 
14
Corporation's Historic Depot District Special Events 
15
Committee, which has hosted such events as Bloom & Zoom, 
16
Oktoberfest, and the Festival of Lights and has brought great 
17
notoriety to Berwyn's Depot area; and

 
18
    WHEREAS, In addition to her business interests, Dorothy 
19
Chiero is also a member of the 708 Mental Health Board, 
20
Democratic Citizens of Berwyn, and the Women's Club of Berwyn; 
21
she has also been an attendee of the Citizens Police Academy 
22
and the Citizens Fire Academy; and

    WHEREAS, Dorothy Chiero has been married to her husband and 
2
business partner Joe for 27 years and has raised 2 children; 
3
she enjoys spending time with her 2 grandchildren; and


 
4
    WHEREAS, Dorothy Chiero's willingness to serve her 
5
community and her contributions to the welfare of the 
6
businesses and people of Berwyn make her a model for the 
7
citizens of the State of Illinois; therefore, be it

 
8
    RESOLVED, BY THE  HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
9
NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
10
congratulate Dorothy Chiero on the occasion of being the 
11
recipient of the Charles E. Piper Award and wish her continued 
12
success and happiness in the future; and be it further

 
13
    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
14
presented to Dorothy Chiero as a symbol of our esteem and 
15
respect.
