HOUSE RESOLUTION

    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3
Representatives are pleased to honor Reverend Father Anthony G. 
4
Tzortzis and the members of Saint Anthony's Greek Orthodox 
5
Church in Springfield on the occasion of the church's 50th 
6
anniversary; and

 
7
    WHEREAS, The families and friends of Saint Anthony's Greek 
8
Orthodox Church will celebrate the church's 50th anniversary on 
9
October 20, 2007 at the Governor's Mansion with an evening 
10
gala; and

 
11
    WHEREAS, His Eminence Metropolitan Iakovos of Chicago will 
12
officiate the Divine Liturgy on October 21, 2007 in 
13
commemoration of the event; and

 
14
    WHEREAS, The Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of North America 
15
and the Springfield community joined hands in 1957 to build 
16
Saint Anthony's Church as a cornerstone for the Greek community 
17
in the capital city; and

 
18
    WHEREAS, Father Anthony Saris, Father Constantine 
19
Ballomenos, Father Demetrios Lolalakas, Father Basil 
20
Apostolos, and from June 1974 until the present, Reverend 
21
Father Anthony G. Tzortzis, have served the spiritual needs of

the community; and

    WHEREAS, Saint Anthony's members are proud of their 
3
long-standing heritage and strong community ties; therefore, 
4
be it

    RESOLVED, BY THE  HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
6
NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
7
congratulate Saint Anthony's Greek Orthodox Church on the 
8
celebration of 50 years of service and fellowship in the 
9
Springfield community; and be it further

 
10
    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
11
presented to Reverend Father Anthony G. Tzortzis of Saint 
12
Anthony's Greek Orthodox Church as an expression of our respect 
13
and esteem and with best wishes for many more years of 
14
dedicated ministry.
