HOUSE RESOLUTION

    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3
Representatives are pleased to congratulate Larry Lee 
4
Metzelaars, Chief of Police of the Mattoon Police Department, 
5
on his retirement after twenty-eight years of service; and

 
6
    WHEREAS, Larry Metzelaars was born in Mattoon and is a 
7
graduate of Mattoon High School; he received his higher 
8
education at Western University; and

 
9
    WHEREAS, He was promoted to Sergeant on January 1, 1987; 
10
and he was promoted to Lieutenant on December 1, 1995; and

 
11
    WHEREAS, Larry Metzelaars was promoted to Captain on 
12
September 15, 1998 and assigned the first shift on September 
13
25th of that same year; and

 
14
    WHEREAS, He was promoted to Deputy Chief of Police on 
15
September 8, 2003; and on July 1, 2004 he was named  Chief of 
16
Police; and

 
17
    WHEREAS, Larry Metzelaars last day on the job was September 
18
14, 2007; therefore, be it

    RESOLVED, BY THE  HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE

NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
2
congratulate Larry Lee Metzelaars on his retirement and thank 
3
him for a job well done; and be it further

    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
5
presented to Larry Lee Metzelaars as a symbol of our respect 
6
and esteem.
