| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
| 3 |
| Representatives are pleased to congratulate Freeport resident |
| 4 |
| Matthew Marvin for a life well lived; and
|
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, Matthew Marvin recently celebrated his 70th |
| 6 |
| anniversary with the Rotary Club; during World War II Mr. |
| 7 |
| Marvin would actively seek out Rotary Clubs in Belgium and |
| 8 |
| Switzerland, and helped fellow soldiers to later join the |
| 9 |
| organization; because of his achievement he earned an audience |
| 10 |
| with District 6420 Governor Pat Burch, who praised Mr. Marvin |
| 11 |
| as a leader in the Rotary organization; and
|
| 12 |
| WHEREAS, In 2003 Matthew Marvin donated $1 million to the |
| 13 |
| Freeport Community Foundation for the second time in his life; |
| 14 |
| his previous work in insurance and real estate made him |
| 15 |
| appreciate making people happy and seeing the community of |
| 16 |
| Freeport prosper; and
|
| 17 |
| WHEREAS, Matthew Marvin is the only timekeeper in the USA |
| 18 |
| Boxing Hall of Fame; he has served as timekeeper for events |
| 19 |
| such as the Junior Olympic National Championships, for over 57 |
| 20 |
| years; he got his start in 1946 while serving in the United |
| 21 |
| States Army and volunteering; and
