 | HOUSE RESOLUTION
   | 
| 2 | 
 |     WHEREAS, The State of Illinois continues to face a  | 
| 3 | 
 | multi-billion dollar operating deficit, spiraling pension  | 
| 4 | 
 | costs, and growing liabilities that have exceeded annual  | 
| 5 | 
 | revenue growth; and
   | 
| 6 | 
 |     WHEREAS, The State of Illinois has a number of executive  | 
| 7 | 
 | aircraft, including four $5 million King Air Turboprops and two  | 
| 8 | 
 | $4 million executive helicopters; and
  
 | 
| 9 | 
 |     WHEREAS, The Illinois Auditor General recently reported  | 
| 10 | 
 | that it costs the State of Illinois $9.81 per nautical mile to  | 
| 11 | 
 | operate the executive aircraft; and
   | 
| 12 | 
 |     WHEREAS, It costs the State of Illinois millions of dollars  | 
| 13 | 
 | annually to own, maintain, and staff the fleet of executive  | 
| 14 | 
 | aircraft; therefore, be it
   | 
| 15 | 
 |     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE  | 
| 16 | 
 | NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we  | 
| 17 | 
 | encourage the Governor and the Governor's Office of Management  | 
| 18 | 
 | and Budget to conduct a study to examine the possibility of  | 
| 19 | 
 | selling or leasing the executive air fleet as a means to save  | 
| 20 | 
 | money for the State of Illinois; and be it further
