HOUSE RESOLUTION


 
2
    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3
Representatives are pleased to congratulate Monica Lehotan on 
4
her retirement as Assistant Principal of Nightingale 
5
Elementary School; and

 
6
    WHEREAS, Monica Lehotan has served the children of the 
7
Chicago Public Schools for 34 years; she has taught children 
8
from pre-kindergarten through eighth grade; she began her 
9
teaching career at Brenneman Elementary School; she has also at

10
McCormick Elementary School, Davis School, and Nightingale 
11
School; she has served on many school committees and has 
12
represented the teachers on the
Local School Council during its 
13
beginning years; she has also worked as
Bilingual Lead Teacher, 
14
turning around the bilingual program to one that
truly focuses 
15
on what is in the best interest of the children
of Nightingale 
16
School; she has served as Nightingale School's assistant

17
principal
for 15 years; and

 
18
    WHEREAS, Monica Lehotan has served as a cohesive force 
19
between parents and the schools she has represented; she has 
20
organized parent committees, parent training, and translation 
21
services to ensure that all parents involved felt that they 
22
were an integral part of the school's affairs; and

    WHEREAS, Monica Lehotan has presented at the Teachers of 
2
English to Speakers of Other Languages Conference; she has 
3
authored many winning grants which have provided additional 
4
funds and programs for the students under her direction; and

 
5
    WHEREAS, Monica Lehotan has been married to Jim Lehotan for 
6
38 wonderful years; she has two children, Krissy and Peter; she 
7
has a wonderful grandchild, Alex; she is the loving daughter of 
8
Mercedes and Dario Landazuri; and she is the devoted sister of 
9
Margarita, Gabriel, David, Roberto, and Maria Laura; 
10
therefore, be it

    RESOLVED, BY THE  HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
12
NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
13
congratulate Monica Lehotan on her retirement and wish her 
14
continued success and happiness in the future; and be it 
15
further

    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
17
presented to Monica Lehotan as a symbol of our esteem and 
18
respect.
