| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |

| Representatives are pleased to congratulate Carol Stream |
| 4 |
| Deputy Police Chief Lance Oakland on his retirement; and
|
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, He is credited by colleagues and friends with |
| 6 |
| bringing an emphasis on drunken driving enforcement within the |
| 7 |
| police department and helping to start the village's annual |
| 8 |
| Relay For Life fundraiser; and
|
| 9 |
| WHEREAS, The Carol Stream village board honored retiring |
| 10 |
| Deputy Police Chief Lance Oakland for nearly 26 years of |
| 11 |
| service to the village; and
|
| 12 |
| WHEREAS, Among Deputy Chief Oakland's contributions are |
| 13 |
| the annual cancer fundraiser he helped start with his late |
| 14 |
| wife, Judy, at Glenbard North High School; since her 2004 |
| 15 |
| death, Chief Oakland has been involved with the DuPage County |
| 16 |
| chapter of the American Cancer Society, donating about $10,000 |
| 17 |
| to renovate the group's Oakbrook Terrace offices; and
|
| 18 |
| WHEREAS, Deputy Chief Oakland also worked with a group of |
| 19 |
| doctors and community members to help bring a hospice home to |
| 20 |
| DuPage County; and
