| WHEREAS, According to the Brain Aneurysm Foundation (BAF), |
| 3 |
| studies show that about 2% of the population of the United |
| 4 |
| States has a brain aneurysm; studies also show that |
| 5 |
| approximately 3 to 6 million people have unruptured brain |
| 6 |
| aneurysms; and the number of people from the State of Illinois |
| 7 |
| who suffer annually are estimated to be between 1,200 and 1,400 |
| 8 |
| cases; and
|
| 9 |
| WHEREAS, The BAF points out that brain aneurysms form from |
| 10 |
| continuous wear and tear on the arterial walls over an extended |
| 11 |
| period of time; the constant stress to the artery wall can |
| 12 |
| sometimes, but not always, lead to hemorrhage causing severe |
| 13 |
| damage or death; and
|
| 14 |
| WHEREAS, People who have been diagnosed with a brain |
| 15 |
| aneurysm need support and help to get through this frightening |
| 16 |
| time; many people are unaware of the facts and have questions |
| 17 |
| that need answered; and
|
| 18 |
| WHEREAS, The Brain Aneurysm Foundation has a website open |
| 19 |
| to people looking for answers and support; and
|
| 20 |
| WHEREAS, The Brain Aneurysm Foundation spearheads |
| 21 |
| research, aids in education and training of physicians, helps |
