HOUSE RESOLUTION


 
2
    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3
Representatives are pleased to congratulate Patty Graff on 
4
being named the 2007 John Wood Community College/Community 
5
Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) of the Year; and

 
6
    WHEREAS, Patty Graff was nominated by North Adams Home in 
7
Mendon; she has been a CNA for 30 years and has been at North 
8
Adams the past two years where she works in the Special Care 
9
unit with persons suffering from dementia; and
 
10
    WHEREAS, She has taken additional coursework at John Wood 
11
Community College pertaining to caring for persons with 
12
dementia; she has been active in the Alzheimer Association's 
13
Memory Walk and fundraising activities for North Adams Home; 
14
and she has two adult sons and lives in Quincy; and

 
15
    WHEREAS, Patty Graff was selected by a committee of 12 
16
community members who reviewed recommendations from her 
17
supervisors, co-workers, and the family members of her 
18
residents; she also submitted an essay titled "What Being a CNA 
19
Means to Me"; in addition, eight other area residents were 
20
nominated for the award and all were honored at the 
21
JWCC/Community CNA of the Year Luncheon Friday, April 20, 2007, 
22
at the Senior and Family Resource Center in Quincy; and

    WHEREAS, This year marks the 12th anniversary of the 
2
celebration, which is sponsored by John Wood Community College 
3
and area health care agencies; and

4
    WHEREAS, The event has a three fold purpose: to educate the 
5
public on the important role CNAs play in healthcare and in the 
6
lives of those they care for; to encourage others to consider a 
7
career as a CNA; and to give some well deserved recognition to 
8
those who demonstrate a willingness to go above and beyond in 
9
providing quality care for the elderly and infirmed; therefore, 
10
be it

    RESOLVED, BY THE  HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
12
NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
13
congratulate Patty Graff on being named the 2007 John Wood 
14
Community College/Community CNA of the Year; and be it further

 
15
    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
16
presented to Patty Graff as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
