HOUSE RESOLUTION

    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3
Representatives are pleased to congratulate Selby Implement of 
4
Quincy on receiving the Agri-Business of the Year Award from 
5
the Quincy Area Chamber of Commerce Agri-Business Committee on 
6
March 14, 2007; and

 
7
    WHEREAS, Selby Implement was started by Forrest Selby in 
8
the 1940s; in 1945 Mr. Selby took on the International 
9
Harvester contract in Quincy; the business became known for 
10
hiring good people and giving its employees the authority to 
11
carry out their responsibilities in dealing with customers; the 
12
current owners are Dave Taylor, Gary Edwards, and Jay Doran, 
13
who bought the company in 1998; and

 
14
    WHEREAS, Selby Implement has maintained an active role in 
15
the community; the company supports agriculture-related 
16
activities including Future Farmers of America, 4-H clubs, the 
17
John Wood Community College agriculture program, the Adams 
18
County Beef Producers, and Adams County Pork Producers; and

 
19
    WHEREAS, The Quincy Area Chamber of Commerce Agri-Business 
20
Committee has  deemed Selby Implement to be worthy of the award 
21
due to its record of community involvement, its strong ties to 
22
the agriculture community and a record of strong service and

progressive business practices; therefore, be it

    RESOLVED, BY THE  HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
3
NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
4
congratulate Selby Implement on receiving the Agri-Business of 
5
the Year Award and wish the company continued success in the 
6
future; and be it further

 
7
    RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be 
8
presented to Dave Taylor, Gary Edwards, and Jay Doran as an 
9
expression of our esteem and respect.
