HOUSE RESOLUTION

    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3
Representatives are pleased to thank Wheeling Village 
4
President Greg Klatecki for his hard work and dedication to the 
5
people of Wheeling; and

 
6
    WHEREAS, Greg Klatecki was born in Chicago; he has been 
7
married to Sue Klatecki for 24 years and they are the proud 
8
parents of Gregg and Brian; and

 
9
    WHEREAS, In addition to his work as the Village President, 
10
he taught and coached at Holmes Middle School for over 25 
11
years; he is fondly remembered as Coach Klatecki for his work 
12
as the wrestling coach and for his dedication to helping 
13
students learn to love science, especially those who had shown 
14
no interest in the discipline in the past; and

 
15
    WHEREAS, Prior to his being elected as Village President, 
16
Greg Klatecki was a member of the Village Zoning Board of 
17
Appeals from 1986 to 1988, a member of the Wheeling Park 
18
District Advisory Committee from 1985 to 1988, and served on 
19
the park district board from 1989 to 1997, including a stint as 
20
park district board president from 1995 to 1997; and

 
21
    WHEREAS, As Village President Greg Klatecki's

accomplishments include: the residential developments One 
2
Milwaukee Place, Astor Place, Park Point, and Prairie Park, 
3
helping bring Wheeling's population from 26,275 in 1986 to 
4
almost 40,000 in 2007; Greg Klatecki and  the Board of Trustees 
5
were also instrumental in making the Chicago Westin North Shore 
6
a reality, with the $130 million  project creating more than 
7
1,000 jobs; and

 
8
    WHEREAS, Greg Klatecki is a well-liked and respected man 
9
who has been a valuable asset to the Village of Wheeling; 
10
therefore, be it

    RESOLVED, BY THE  HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
12
NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
13
thank Greg Klatecki for his devotion to the people and the 
14
community of Wheeling and wish him all the best in the future; 
15
and be it further

    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
17
presented to Greg Klatecki as a symbol of our respect.
