HOUSE RESOLUTION

    WHEREAS, Addressing the complex mental health needs of 
3
children, youth, and families today is fundamental to the 
4
future of the State of Illinois; and

 
5
    WHEREAS, The need for comprehensive, coordinated mental 
6
health services for children, youth, and families places upon 
7
our community a critical responsibility; and

 
8
    WHEREAS, It is appropriate that a day should be set apart 
9
each year for the direction of our thoughts toward our 
10
children's mental health and well-being; and

 
11
    WHEREAS, The State of Illinois, through programs to  serve 
12
children and adolescents, is effectively caring for the mental 
13
health needs of children, youth, and families across the State; 
14
therefore, be it

 
15
    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
16
NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
17
proclaim May 8, 2007 to be National Children's Mental Health 
18
Awareness Day; and be it further
 
19
    RESOLVED, that we urge our citizens and all agencies and 
20
organizations interested in meeting every child's mental

health needs to unite on that day in the observance of such 
2
exercises as will acquaint the people of the State of Illinois 
3
with the fundamental necessity of a year-round program for 
4
children and youth with mental health needs and their families.
