HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of the State of Illinois are pleased to congratulate Mustapha Farrakhan of Harvey for his achievements in the game of basketball; and

WHEREAS, Mustapha Farrakhan led the Thornton Township High School Boys Basketball Team to the Elite Eight in the State basketball playoffs; he also led the team in scoring with an average of 20.3 points per game, with season highs of 30, 29, and 45 points; his 45 points per game was an Illinois season high; he also was a member of the 2006 Chicago Fire AAU Basketball Team, where he averaged 25 points per game; and

WHEREAS, Mustapha Farrakhan was invited to and attended the NBA Top 100 High School Basketball Camp and the 2006 Nike All-American Camp; he was also invited to and attended Michael Jordan's 2006 Basketball Camp, where he was one of only four high schools players to be invited; and

WHEREAS, Mustapha Farrakhan has been named to the 2007 Illinois Basketball Coaches Association All-State Team, the 2007 Chicago Sun-Times All-State Basketball Team, the 2007 Chicago Sun-Times All-Area Basketball Team, the 2007 Daily Southtown All-Area Basketball Team, and the 2007 Illinois Times All-Area Basketball Team and was named the Daily Southtown Basketball Player of the Year; and

WHEREAS, Mustapha Farrakhan signed on with the University of Virginia on a basketball scholarship; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Mustapha Farrakhan on his many achievements in the game of basketball, and extend our best wishes for his continued success and happiness; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Mustapha Farrakhan as a symbol of our esteem.
