| HOUSE RESOLUTION
|

| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
| 3 |
| Representatives wish to congratulate Colleen McShane on her |
| 4 |
| retirement as president of the Illinois Restaurant |
| 5 |
| Association; and
|
| 6 |
| WHEREAS, Colleen McShane was appointed President of the |
| 7 |
| Illinois Restaurant Association in December 1993; the Illinois |
| 8 |
| Restaurant Association is the leading trade association for |
| 9 |
| Illinois' $18 billion foodservice industry, and members |
| 10 |
| represent more than 6,000 foodservice outlets throughout the |
| 11 |
| State; and
|
| 12 |
| WHEREAS, As President, Colleen was responsible for |
| 13 |
| fulfilling the Association's mission to operate an |
| 14 |
| organization of all foodservice enterprises in the State, to |
| 15 |
| promote and strengthen the industry, to champion industry |
| 16 |
| concerns and interests before government entities, to provide |
| 17 |
| leadership and education, and to be of service to the |
| 18 |
| community; and
|
| 19 |
| WHEREAS, During Colleen's tenure, the Illinois Restaurant |
| 20 |
| Association developed a program and curriculum materials for |
| 21 |
| the first food service management school-to-work program |
| 22 |
| called ProStart; subsequently, the National Restaurant |
|
|

| Association Educational Foundation made hospitality |
| 2 |
| school-to-careers a national initiative; since its pilot, the |
| 3 |
| program has expanded from one state to 43 states, and, in |
| 4 |
| Illinois, grown from 100 students in six schools to more than |
| 5 |
| 2000 students in 47 schools; and |
| 6 |
| WHEREAS, In addition, the Illinois Restaurant Association |
| 7 |
| is contracted by the Chicago Mayor's Office of Special Events |
| 8 |
| to manage the food and beverage portion of the Taste of Chicago |
| 9 |
| and other major summer music festivals; and
|
| 10 |
| WHEREAS,
Prior to joining the Illinois Restaurant |
| 11 |
| Association, Colleen worked as the Director of Public Affairs |
| 12 |
| for the City of Chicago's Department of Aviation for five |
| 13 |
| years; prior to this, she served for four years as the |
| 14 |
| Community Affairs Department liaison for the Cook County States |
| 15 |
| Attorney's Office.; and
|
| 16 |
| WHEREAS,
Colleen is the past President of the International |
| 17 |
| Society of Restaurant Association Executives, Vice Chair of |
| 18 |
| V.I.S.I.T. Illinois and the American Institute of Wine and |
| 19 |
| Food; she serves on the Board of Trustees for the National |
| 20 |
| Restaurant Association Educational Foundation, the Board of |
| 21 |
| Directors for the National Restaurant Association, the |
| 22 |
| Foodservice Professionals Network of Chicago, the Chicago |
| 23 |
| Workforce Development Board, the Governor's Labor Advisory |

| Board, and she is a member of the American Society of |

| Association Executives; therefore, be it
|
| 3 |
| RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
| 4 |
| NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we |
| 5 |
| congratulate Colleen McShane on her retirement and wish her |
| 6 |
| continued success in her future endeavors; and be it further
|
| 7 |
| RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
| 8 |
| presented to Colleen McShane as a symbol of our respect.
