HOUSE RESOLUTION

    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3
Representatives would like to congratulate Nancy Roberts 
4
Garrity on receiving the Distinguished Teacher Award at the 
5
annual conference of the National Catholic Educational 
6
Association; and

 
7
    WHEREAS, On April 10, 2007, Nancy Garrity will be honored 
8
as one of the top 12 Catholic elementary schoolteachers in the 
9
United States; and

 
10
    WHEREAS, Nancy Garrity teaches seventh and eighth grade 
11
students at St. John Fisher School in Chicago's Beverly 
12
community; and

 
13
    WHEREAS, Nancy Garrity is unique, she creates her own 
14
curriculum replacing textbooks in the classroom  with more than 
15
10 study guides which she has written; she looks for the 
16
positive in each student; and

 
17
    WHEREAS, Nancy Garrity is a 1970 graduate of Northern 
18
Illinois University and began teaching at St. John Fisher in 
19
1990; therefore, be it

    RESOLVED, BY THE  HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE

NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we

congratulate Nancy Garrity on receiving the Distinguished

Teacher Award at the annual conference of the National Catholic

    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be

presented to Nancy Garrity as a symbol of our respect.
