HOUSE RESOLUTION

    WHEREAS, It has come to the attention of the members of the 
3
Illinois House of Representatives that Ken Bartels of Elmhurst 
4
is the recipient of the 56th Distinguished Service Award given 
5
by the Elmhurst Jaycees; and

 
6
    WHEREAS, The Distinguished Service Award is an annual award 
7
given to a citizen in recognition of his or her dedication to 
8
making the City of Elmhurst a better community; and

 
9
    WHEREAS, Ken Bartels is the Vice President of College 
10
Advancement at Elmhurst College; and he has been a Director of 
11
the Community Bank of Elmhurst since 1999; and

 
12
    WHEREAS, Mr. Bartels has been active in the Elmhurst 
13
Chamber of Commerce &  Industry for more than 20 years and has 
14
been a member of the Rotary Club of Elmhurst for 25 years, 
15
serving 10 years as a director; he is also a board member and 
16
an endowment trust member of the Elmhurst Symphony Orchestra; 
17
in addition, he has been active with many other Elmhurst 
18
community groups; and

 
19
    WHEREAS, Mr. Bartels is known in the community as the TV 
20
voice of the Elmhurst Memorial Day Parade, the opening 
21
ceremonies at Elmfest, and as a part of the "Elmhurst Our Kind

of Town" television series; and

    WHEREAS, Mr. Bartels will be honored at the Distinguished 
3
Service Award dinner at the River Forest Country Club on April 
4
18, 2007; therefore, be it

 
5
    RESOLVED, BY THE  HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
6
NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
7
congratulate Ken Bartels on being the recipient of the 
8
Distinguished Service Award given by the Elmhurst Jaycees; and 
9
be it further

    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
11
presented to Ken Bartels as a symbol of our respect.
