HOUSE RESOLUTION

    WHEREAS, Pegasus Special Riders is a program designed to 
3
"facilitate healing and empowerment in the lives of physically, 
4
mentally, and/or emotionally challenged individuals through a 
5
variety of equine assisted therapies"; and

 
6
    WHEREAS, Pegasus Special Riders Inc. was formed in 1997, 
7
operating only if weather permitted; the program has grown to 
8
include an indoor racing arena, a tack room, feed room, 
9
physical therapy room and storage for hay; and

 
10
    WHEREAS, Pegasus Special Riders is funded entirely by 
11
grants and contributions and relies on volunteers to help 
12
riders, care for the horses and the facilities, and work toward 
13
raising funds and support for the program; and

 
14
    WHEREAS, 2007 is the 10th anniversary of the program and 
15
will be a special year filled with awareness campaigns, events, 
16
and the Annual Picnic and the Horseshoe Ball; and

 
17
    WHEREAS, Pegasus Special Riders Program served 73 riders 
18
from ages 3 to 73 in 2006, operated with over 80 volunteers, 
19
and received in excess of $80,000 in contributions from donors;

and

    WHEREAS, Pegasus Special Riders Inc. in Oregon, Illinois, 
2
is to be commended for the hard work, dedication, and support 
3
of others in need; therefore, be it

 
4
    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
5
NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
6
congratulate the workers and staff of Pegasus Special Riders 
7
Inc. on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the 
8
organization; and be it further

 
9
    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
10
presented to a representative of Pegasus Special Riders Inc.
