| WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of the |

| State of Illinois wish to honor Eli Williams of the Westville |
| 4 |
| Tigers on being named the 2006 Commercial-News Football Player |
| 5 |
| of the Year; and
|
| 6 |
| WHEREAS, Eli gained 1,397 yards rushing and receiving |
| 7 |
| combined with 24 touchdowns on offense, was the leading tackler |
| 8 |
| on defense, and had two interceptions; and
|
| 9 |
| WHEREAS, Eli's play helped propel the Tigers to a 13 and 1 |
| 10 |
| record this past season; he was named Most Valuable Player by |
| 11 |
| his teammates; and
|
| 12 |
| WHEREAS, Eli comes from a family of athletes; his father |
| 13 |
| played for the Westville football team in the mid-1970s, his |
| 14 |
| older sister Ashily pitched for the softball team from |
| 15 |
| 1998-2002, and younger sister Carissa plays basketball and |
| 16 |
| volleyball; and
|
| 17 |
| WHEREAS, Eli always worked hard to be a better athlete and |
| 18 |
| football player and a true team player, but it was a team |
| 19 |
| effort that was the reason for a title run that took the Tigers |
| 20 |
| to the State Championship game; therefore, be it
