    AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend House Bill 5493 as follows:

on page 1, line 9, by deleting "and"; and

on page 1, immediately below line 12, by inserting the

following:

        "(d) High school graduation requirements under Section

    27-22 of the School Code require students to take one year 
8
    of music, art, vocational education, or a foreign language, 
9
    which includes ASL; and"; and

on page 2, lines 6 and 7, by deleting "in a manner deemed

appropriate by the State Board of Education"; and

on page 2, lines 11 and 12, by deleting "in a manner deemed
