Amends the Bees and Apiaries Act. Requires the Department of Agriculture to adopt rules requiring any owner of property that is adjacent to a registered apiary to: (i) establish a buffer zone when spraying pesticides that are potentially harmful to bees; or (ii) use only pesticides that are not harmful to bees. Effective immediately.

| AN ACT concerning animals.

| Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
| 3 |
| represented in the General Assembly:
|

| Section 5. The Bees and Apiaries Act is amended by adding |
| 5 |
| Section 2d as follows: |
| 6 |
| (510 ILCS 20/2d new) |
| 7 |
| Sec. 2d. Pesticide buffer zones. The Department shall adopt |
| 8 |
| rules requiring any owner of property that is adjacent to a |
| 9 |
| registered apiary to: (i) establish a buffer zone when spraying |
| 10 |
| pesticides that are potentially harmful to bees; or (ii) use |
| 11 |
| only pesticides that are not harmful to bees.

| Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon |
| 13 |
| becoming law.
