    Amends the Bees and Apiaries Act. Requires the Department of Agriculture to adopt rules requiring any owner of property that is adjacent to a registered apiary to: (i) establish a buffer zone when spraying pesticides that are potentially harmful to bees; or (ii) use only pesticides that are not harmful to bees. Effective immediately.

    AN ACT concerning animals.

    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,

represented in the General Assembly:

    Section 5. The Bees and Apiaries Act is amended  by adding 
5
Section 2d as follows:

    (510 ILCS 20/2d  new)

    Sec. 2d. Pesticide buffer zones. The Department shall adopt 
8
rules requiring any owner of property that is adjacent to a 
9
registered apiary to: (i) establish a buffer zone when spraying 
10
pesticides that are potentially harmful to bees; or (ii) use 
11
only pesticides that are not harmful to bees.

    Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon 
13
becoming law.
