| AN ACT concerning local government.
|

| Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
| 3 |
| represented in the General Assembly:
|

| Section 5. The Fire Protection District Act is amended by |
| 5 |
| adding Section 11h as follows:
|
| 6 |
| (70 ILCS 705/11h new) |
| 7 |
| Sec. 11h. Fire suppression grant program. The board of |
| 8 |
| trustees of any fire protection district may, by ordinance, |
| 9 |
| establish a program to award grants to the owners of single |
| 10 |
| family residential properties located within the fire |
| 11 |
| protection district who install and maintain approved |
| 12 |
| sprinkler or other fire suppression systems that meet national |
| 13 |
| standards and are certified by the fire protection district. |
| 14 |
| Any such grant award may be conditioned on the sprinkler or |
| 15 |
| fire suppression system being maintained in good operating |
| 16 |
| condition for a specified term and being subject to inspection |
| 17 |
| to verify the condition of the system on an annual basis.

| Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon |
| 19 |
| becoming law.
