| AN ACT concerning local government.
|

| Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|

| represented in the General Assembly:
|

| Section 5. The Illinois Municipal Code is amended by adding |
| 5 |
| Section 6-4-7.5 as follows:
|

| (65 ILCS 5/6-4-7.5 new) |
| 7 |
| Sec. 6-4-7.5. Village trustees; attorney. One or more |
| 8 |
| individual members of the board of trustees of any village |
| 9 |
| incorporated under this Division may not hire a separate |
| 10 |
| attorney using public funds unless the village attorney is |
| 11 |
| disqualified from or recuses himself or herself from |
| 12 |
| representing the member in his or her official capacity.

| 13 |
| Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon |
| 14 |
| becoming law.
