| AN ACT concerning State government.
|
| 2 |
| Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
| 3 |
| represented in the General Assembly:
|
| 4 |
| Section 5. The State Fire Marshal Act is amended by |
| 5 |
| changing Section 1 as follows:
|
| 6 |
| (20 ILCS 2905/1) (from Ch. 127 1/2, par. 1)

| Sec. 1. There is hereby created the Office of the State |
| 8 |
| Fire
Marshal, hereinafter referred to as the
the Office.
|
| 9 |
| The Office shall be under an executive director who shall |
| 10 |
| be
appointed by the Governor with the advice and consent of the |
| 11 |
| Senate.
|
| 12 |
| The executive director of the Office shall be known as the |
| 13 |
| State Fire
Marshal and shall receive an annual salary as set by |
| 14 |
| the Governor from time
to time or as set by
the
Compensation |
| 15 |
| Review Board, whichever is greater.
If set by the Governor, the |
| 16 |
| annual salary may not exceed 85% of the annual
salary of the |
| 17 |
| Governor.
|
| 18 |
| The Office of the State Fire Marshal shall have a division |
| 19 |
| that shall assume the duties of the Division of Fire
|
| 20 |
| Prevention, Department of Law Enforcement, and a division that |
| 21 |
| shall assume the duties of Illinois Fire
Protection Personnel |
| 22 |
| Standards and Education Commission. Each division
shall be |
| 23 |
| headed by a division manager who shall be employed by the Fire |
