| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate wish to express |
| 3 |
| their sincere condolences to the family and friends of Edgar |
| 4 |
| Newton Davison of Godfrey, who passed away on April 3, 2006; |
| 5 |
| and
|
| 6 |
| WHEREAS, Edgar Davison was born on October 22, 1927 to Jack |
| 7 |
| and Lillian (Schaefer) Davison; he married the former Peggy |
| 8 |
| Reed on September 24, 1976, in Alton; and |
| 9 |
| WHEREAS, Edgar Davison served his country in the United |
| 10 |
| States Navy as a corpsman during World War II; and |
| 11 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Davison practiced dentistry in Rosewood |
| 12 |
| Heights for 47 years and founded a free dental clinic for needy |
| 13 |
| children in Wood River; and
|
| 14 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Davison was also active in his community; he |
| 15 |
| was a past board member and president of Temple Israel in |
| 16 |
| Godfrey, a founding member of the Wood River Kiwanis club, and |
| 17 |
| a member of the Wood River Rotary, the Great River Choral |
| 18 |
| Society, New Horizon Band, and Lockhaven Country Club; and he |
| 19 |
| coached soccer and played on a soccer team until he was 51; and
|
| 20 |
| WHEREAS, In his free time, he loved golf and playing poker; |
| 21 |
| and
|
| 22 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Davison was preceded in death by his parents, |
| 23 |
| his sister, Dorothy Harris, and his brother, David Davison; and
|
| 24 |
| WHEREAS, The passing of Edgar Newton Davison will be felt |
| 25 |
| by all who knew and loved him, especially his wife, Peggy |
| 26 |
| Davison; his daughter and son-in-law, Jodi and Dennis Madole; |
| 27 |
| his sons and daughters-in-law, Norton and Norma Davison and |
| 28 |
| Jonathan and Brooke Davison; his stepsons, Reed Wickenhauser |
