| SENATE RESOLUTION
|

| WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois |
| 3 |
| learned with sadness of the death of Silas "Si" Otten of Anna |
| 4 |
| on Saturday, July 9, 2005; and
|
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, He was born on August 31, 1931, in Shiloh in |
| 6 |
| Randolph County to Henry C. and Louise (Huch) Otten; he married |
| 7 |
| Evelyn Boyd on August 30, 1952, in Salem; and
|
| 8 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Otten valiantly served his country as a member |
| 9 |
| of the United States Army during the Korean Conflict; he later |
| 10 |
| retired from Anna Quarry after working as a supervisor; and
|
| 11 |
| WHEREAS, The passing of Silas "Si" Otten has been deeply |
| 12 |
| felt by many, especially his wife, Evelyn; his daughters, |
| 13 |
| Marcia Abell and Terri and husband, Craig Partridge; his son |
| 14 |
| and daughter-in-law, Mike and Tina Otten; his grandchildren, |
| 15 |
| Heath Cunningham and wife Jenny, Neely and Matt Otten, Mark and |
| 16 |
| Mike Chamness, and Luke Partridge; his great-grandson, Dylan |
| 17 |
| Cunningham; his brothers and sisters-in-law, Paul and Virginia |
| 18 |
| Otten and Amos and Betty Otten; and his sisters, Helen Kreutz, |
| 19 |
| Lola and husband, Earl Edmonds, and Janet and husband, Leroy |
| 20 |
| Eddleman; therefore, be it

| RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL |
| 22 |
| ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |
| 23 |
| Silas "Si" Otten, and we extend our sincerest condolences to |
| 24 |
| his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it |
| 25 |
| further

| RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
| 27 |
| presented to his family as an expression of our deepest |
| 28 |
| sympathy.
