HOUSE RESOLUTION


 
2
    WHEREAS, Ben Haiman of LaGrange received the Future Leader 
3
Award given by the West Suburban Chamber of Commerce and 
4
Industry; the award is one of four awards given by the Chamber 
5
as part of the Pride of the Future Youth Awards; and

 
6
    WHEREAS, Mr. Haiman is a senior at Lyons Township High 
7
School, where he is known for his school spirit and commitment; 
8
and

 
9
    WHEREAS, He is active in several school activities, 
10
including as a member of the Student Council Executive Board, 
11
as the Student Council representative to the District 204 
12
School Board, as a group leader of the Business Management 
13
club, as part of Relay for Life, on the Curriculum and Staff 
14
Development Team, on the Lyons Township High School Hall of 
15
Fame Committee, on the Special Education Interview Committee, 
16
on the Red Ribbon Committee, as a coordinator for Secret Santa, 
17
as a member of National Honor Society, as Student Council 
18
Advisory Representative, and as a coordinator for the Holiday 
19
Write Night Committee; and

 
20
    WHEREAS, He has devoted hours and hours to service outside 
21
of the high school as well through participation in Whole in 
22
One Club, a K-6 after school enrichment program, as a 
23
volunteer, assistant director, and as a volunteer 
24
representative to the Board of Directors; he has served as a 
25
Sunday School instructor at his church, as a winter and summer 
26
break camp counselor, as an adult computer class instructor, as 
27
a Potta Youth Group counselor, as an assistant eight grade 
28
teacher, as a technology consultant, and as an AV repair 
29
assistant during the summer; and

    WHEREAS, He is a member of National Honor Society and has 
31
been on the honor roll every semester that he has been in high

school; he was named School Citizen of the Year for District 
2
204 by Education Region West 40 in 2004-2005; he is a member of 
3
Mu Alpha Theta, the mathematics honor society, and was Student 
4
of the Month-Student Activities in February of 2004; therefore, 
5

    RESOLVED, BY THE  HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
7
NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
8
we congratulate Ben Haiman on winning the Future Leader Award 
9
given by the West Suburban Chamber of Commerce and Industry; 
10
and be it further

    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
12
presented to Mr. Haiman as an expression of our esteem.
