| HOUSE RESOLUTION
|
| 2 |
| WHEREAS, The members of the 117th Representative District |
| 3 |
| Youth Advisory Council recognize the value of all students |
| 4 |
| respecting each other, their teachers, and other educators; and
|
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, The students of Illinois come from a wide variety |
| 6 |
| of social, economic, and family backgrounds; and
|
| 7 |
| WHEREAS, Respect is defined as the objective, unbiased |
| 8 |
| consideration and regard for the rights, values, beliefs, and |
| 9 |
| property of all people; and
|
| 10 |
| WHEREAS, Respectful behavior means treating others with |
| 11 |
| civility and courtesy, accepting personal differences, |
| 12 |
| listening to what others have to say, and refraining from |
| 13 |
| ridiculing, embarrassing, or hurting others; and
|
| 14 |
| WHEREAS, Forming relationships based on respect helps |
| 15 |
| people to get along with each other, avoid and resolve |
| 16 |
| disagreements, and create an encouraging social climate; and
|
| 17 |
| WHEREAS, Students throughout Illinois have learned a great |
| 18 |
| deal about one another through programs that teach |
| 19 |
| understanding, respect, and peer mediation; therefore, be it
|
| 20 |
| RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
| 21 |
| NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that |
| 22 |
| we encourage the students of Illinois to develop an |
| 23 |
| understanding of the value of respectful behavior, become aware |
| 24 |
| of the many ways in which they show both respect and |
| 25 |
| disrespect, and discover more about themselves and their |
| 26 |
| schoolmates; and be it further |
| 27 |
| RESOLVED, That we hereby declare April 5, 2006, as Respect |
| 28 |
| Your Peers Day in Illinois; and be it further
