| HOUSE RESOLUTION
|
| 2 |
| WHEREAS, The Palatine Township Senior Center has been |
| 3 |
| recognized as the first nationally accredited senior center in |
| 4 |
| the northwest suburbs of Chicago and only the third in the |
| 5 |
| State of Illinois; there are only 126 accredited senior centers |
| 6 |
| in the United States; and
|
| 7 |
| WHEREAS, Seniors are an integral aspect of the community, |
| 8 |
| providing wisdom and lifelong experience from which people of |
| 9 |
| all ages can benefit; and
|
| 10 |
| WHEREAS, The Palatine Township Senior Citizens Council, |
| 11 |
| which operates the Palatine Township Senior Center, has |
| 12 |
| involved, enriched, and empowered older adults in Palatine |
| 13 |
| Township and the surrounding communities since 1973; and
|
| 14 |
| WHEREAS, The Palatine Township Senior Center, through a |
| 15 |
| wide variety of programs in education, fitness, arts, |
| 16 |
| recreation, travel, social services, nutrition, adult day |
| 17 |
| care, and volunteer services, has enhanced the ability of older |
| 18 |
| adults to remain independent so they may remain an asset for |
| 19 |
| all citizens; and
|
| 20 |
| WHEREAS, The Palatine Township Senior Center has |
| 21 |
| strengthened the dignity and self-esteem of older adults, thus |
| 22 |
| tapping their experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, |
| 23 |
| and enabling them to continue to contribute to the community; |
| 24 |
| and
|
| 25 |
| WHEREAS, The National Institute of Senior Centers (NISC) is |
| 26 |
| the accrediting body for 15,000 senior centers nationwide; |
| 27 |
| therefore, be it

| RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
