| HOUSE RESOLUTION
|

| WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of the |
| 3 |
| State of Illinois learned with sadness of the death of Darrell |
| 4 |
| Dean Tucker of Charleston on Saturday, February 11, 2006; and
|
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, He was born July 29, 1945, in Paris, Illinois, the |
| 6 |
| son of Betty Jo Ludington and the stepson of Roy Stanford |
| 7 |
| Tucker; he was united in marriage to Sherry Stoltz on March 25, |
| 8 |
| 1978, at the First Christian Church in Charleston; and
|
| 9 |
| WHEREAS, He proudly served his country from 1963 to 1966 in |
| 10 |
| the United States Army; he received his B.S. in history |
| 11 |
| education from Eastern Illinois University in 1969, an M.S. in |
| 12 |
| educational administration from Illinois State University in |
| 13 |
| 1973, and an Ed.S. in educational administration from Eastern |
| 14 |
| Illinois University in 1978; in addition, he also received a |
| 15 |
| Masters in Theology; and
|
| 16 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Tucker served as a teacher and coach for |
| 17 |
| Tri-Valley High School and Heyworth High School, as Principal |
| 18 |
| of Windsor High School, and for 20 years in the Charleston |
| 19 |
| School District, first as Assistant Principal and later as |
| 20 |
| Principal of Charleston High School; and |
| 21 |
| WHEREAS, After his formal retirement in 2001, he was a |
| 22 |
| Physical Education Instructor and Student Teacher Coordinator |
| 23 |
| at Eastern Illinois University, a counselor at Lincoln |
| 24 |
| Christian College, and volunteered at Carl Sandburg Elementary |
| 25 |
| School with their Reading Program; he deeply cared for all of |
| 26 |
| his students and encouraged them to achieve more academically |
| 27 |
| and athletically than they thought possible, and he had a knack |
| 28 |
| for making others people smile through his mischievous sense of |
| 29 |
| humor; and
|
| 30 |
| WHEREAS, After coming to know Jesus, it was on January 5, |
|

| 1992, that he was baptized and committed his life to a ministry |
| 2 |
| addressing family relationships; this led to the establishment |
| 3 |
| of his business recognized as A.I.M. (Attitude Improvement |
| 4 |
| Management) HIGH Seminars; through these seminars he was able |
| 5 |
| to develop a ministry in family relations that would impact the |
| 6 |
| lives of many in a positive way; and
|
| 7 |
| WHEREAS, He was a faithful member of the First Christian |
| 8 |
| Church, where he served as a Deacon and was involved in various |
| 9 |
| aspects of church service; he also held membership in the |
| 10 |
| National Principals Association, Pointman Leadership |
| 11 |
| Institute, and for many years served as President of the Apollo |
| 12 |
| Conference; and
|
| 13 |
| WHEREAS, He loved to run and lift weights, was an avid |
| 14 |
| reader, and enjoyed working in the yard; he was interested in |
| 15 |
| and a fan of all sports, but cheering for his beloved Chicago |
| 16 |
| Cubs was a priority; he never knew a stranger and truly had a |
| 17 |
| sincere love and compassion for others; he was described by a |
| 18 |
| close friend as having a "wise way" about him which made him a |
| 19 |
| deep friend to many and a mentor; and
|
| 20 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Tucker was a tremendous husband, father, and |
| 21 |
| grandfather, and his love and devotion for his family could not |
| 22 |
| have been greater; his passing has been deeply felt by those |
| 23 |
| left behind, especially his loving wife, Sherry; his children, |
| 24 |
| Brian Tucker and his wife Renee, Chad Tucker-Brachbill and his |
| 25 |
| wife Angie, Shannon Smith and her husband Michael, and Heather |
| 26 |
| Uppencamp and her husband Heath; his grandchildren, Cassidy, |
| 27 |
| Marley, and Sadie Tucker, Taylor and Joel Tucker-Brachbill, |
| 28 |
| Alexis Flore, and Ashton Smith; and his brother, David Tucker; |
| 29 |
| he was preceded by his mother and stepfather and one brother, |
| 30 |
| Larry Joe Tucker; therefore, be it
