| HOUSE RESOLUTION

| WHEREAS, The House of Representatives is pleased to |
| 3 |
| recognize Charles A. Klyber for winning 23 medals in the 2005 |
| 4 |
| Illinois Senior Olympics held in Springfield, Peoria, the Quad |
| 5 |
| Cities, and Edwardsville from May until September 2005; and
|
| 6 |
| WHEREAS, The Illinois Senior Games are sanctioned by the |
| 7 |
| National Senior Games Association for senior athletes who are |
| 8 |
| at least 50 years of age; participants compete in 26 different |
| 9 |
| sporting events, including track and field, archery, |
| 10 |
| basketball, cycling, golf, swimming, discus, shot put, 10K run, |
| 11 |
| 5000 meter run, javelin, high jump, volleyball; and
|
| 12 |
| WHEREAS, Charles A. Klyber (age 68) won Gold medals in the |
| 13 |
| 10K run, 5000 meter, 1500 meter, 800 meter; Silver medals in |
| 14 |
| the 200 meter, 400 meter, 800 meter, 1500 meter, discus, shot |
| 15 |
| put, and javelin; Bronze medals in the 1500 meter, football |
| 16 |
| accuracy, softball, discus, and shot put; these combined totals |
| 17 |
| are for track and field meets in Springfield, the Quad Cities, |
| 18 |
| Peoria, and Edwardsville, Illinois; and
|
| 19 |
| WHEREAS, This exemplary athlete has participated in the |
| 20 |
| Senior Olympics, sometimes against former high school rivals; |
| 21 |
| he takes his pleasure in watching senior athletes in the 80's |
| 22 |
| and 90's take part in the Illinois State Senior Olympic games; |
| 23 |
| he also takes with him the knowledge that God willing he will |
| 24 |
| qualify in the 2006 Senior Games for the 2007 National Senior |
| 25 |
| Olympic Games in Lexington, Kentucky and bring home Gold for |
| 26 |
| Illinois; and
|
| 27 |
| WHEREAS, Charles A. Klyber has demonstrated exceptional |
| 28 |
| athletic ability and has confirmed the value and pleasure of |
| 29 |
| lifelong athletic participation; he has brought great honor to |
| 30 |
| himself, to his community, and to the State of Illinois; |
