| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of

| Representatives offer our sincere congratulations to the
Lady |

| Cougars volleyball team of Central High School in Breese on

| winning the 2005 Illinois High School Association (IHSA) Class |
| 6 |
| A State Championship on November 12, 2005; and
|
| 7 |
| WHEREAS, Central High School is an outstanding school that |
| 8 |
| challenges all students
academically and vocationally and |
| 9 |
| instills a positive work ethic
in a safe atmosphere
of mutual |
| 10 |
| respect with the intent to reach
and enhance individual |
| 11 |
| talents; the success of the Lady Cougars is a testament to the |
| 12 |
| strength of these values; and

| WHEREAS, Under Varsity Coach Jim Cook and Assistant Coach |

| Kelly Potthast, the Lady Cougars defeated
Cahokia Conference |
| 15 |
| rivals the Columbia Eagles and reclaimed the State championship |
| 16 |
| in a well-fought battle at the
Redbird Arena in
Normal; and
|

| WHEREAS, The Lady Cougars never trailed in their State |
| 18 |
| Championship match against the Columbia Eagles; they came |
| 19 |
| together as a team, played with purpose, and fought hard for |
| 20 |
| their victory; and |
| 21 |
| WHEREAS, This victory marks the Lady Cougars' second State |
| 22 |
| Championship in nine years; the win capped an exciting season |
| 23 |
| with an overall record of 34-9, including a 23-0 record against |
| 24 |
| Class A teams; in eight post-season matches, the Lady Cougars |
| 25 |
| did not lose a single game, and only one team was able to put up |
| 26 |
| more than twenty points a game against the amazing Lady |
| 27 |
| Cougars; and
|
| 28 |
| WHEREAS, The proud community of Breese honored the Lady |
| 29 |
| Cougars with a hero's welcome upon their return from the State |
| 30 |
| Championship, including a parade celebrating their victory; |
