| HOUSE RESOLUTION

| WHEREAS, The Sauganash Woman's Club of Chicago is a worthy |
| 3 |
| organization whose goal is to return services to the local and |
| 4 |
| larger community for which its members accept responsibility as |
| 5 |
| good citizens; and
|
| 6 |
| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
| 7 |
| Representatives are pleased to honor and recognize milestone |
| 8 |
| events of civic organizations in the State of Illinois; and
|
| 9 |
| WHEREAS, It has come to our attention that the Sauganash |
| 10 |
| Woman's Club is celebrating its 80th anniversary on November |
| 11 |
| 10, 2005, with a special fall benefit party at which the Club |
| 12 |
| will remember the neighborhood women who created the Sauganash |
| 13 |
| Woman's Club in 1926 and honor the hardworking and generous |
| 14 |
| core of members who today sustain it; and
|
| 15 |
| WHEREAS, Over the decades, the Club extended the helping |
| 16 |
| hands of its members in many directions, including raising |
| 17 |
| funds to send children to summer camp, purchase a seeing-eye |
| 18 |
| dog, provide scholarships to worthy college students, endow |
| 19 |
| special causes, support the USO, and more recently, help meet |
| 20 |
| the needs of food pantries, homeless shelters, and local |
| 21 |
| schools; and
|
| 22 |
| WHEREAS, Additionally, the Club expanded the ways it serves |
| 23 |
| others by creating committees that address specific needs, |
| 24 |
| including The Smile Train, Make a Wish, and the Night Ministry; |
| 25 |
| and
|
| 26 |
| WHEREAS, Most recently, the Club opened its membership and |
| 27 |
| Club members look forward to further growth and new ways to |
| 28 |
| serve in the 21st century; therefore, be it
|
