| HOUSE RESOLUTION
|

| WHEREAS, Twenty-five years ago, thirteen Arcola area |
| 3 |
| citizens decided to be part of Arcola's Famous Broom Corn |
| 4 |
| Festival Parade; they took a talent inventory and came to the |
| 5 |
| conclusion that pushing mowers and twirling brooms was the best |
| 6 |
| they could do, thus the Lawn Rangers from Amazing Arcola were |
| 7 |
| founded; and
|
| 8 |
| WHEREAS, The Lawn Rangers have performed in Benton Harbor, |
| 9 |
| Michigan; Detroit, Michigan; Chicago; St. Louis, Missouri; |
| 10 |
| Indianapolis, Indiana; Springfield; Canton, Ohio; Phoenix, |
| 11 |
| Arizona; and San Diego, California; at such events as |
| 12 |
| Thanksgiving Day parades, Bowl Game parades, the Indy 500 |
| 13 |
| parade, and State Fair parades; they have also participated in |
| 14 |
| numerous community parades throughout the Midwest; and
|
| 15 |
| WHEREAS, Over 500 individuals have marched with the Lawn |
| 16 |
| Rangers, including people from ages 21 to 80 and from all walks |
| 17 |
| of life, bound only by the great bond of "fellership"; their |
| 18 |
| ranks include their team press agent and noted Pulitzer Prize |
| 19 |
| winning columnist, Dave Barry; he has appeared in five parades, |
| 20 |
| written five columns featuring the Rangers, and sponsored a TV |
| 21 |
| production starring himself and the Lawn Rangers; and
|
| 22 |
| WHEREAS, The motto of the Lawn Rangers is "You're only |
| 23 |
| young once, but you can always be immature."; therefore, be it
|
| 24 |
| RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
| 25 |
| NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that |
| 26 |
| we recognize the grand tradition of the Lawn Rangers, and we |
| 27 |
| congratulate them on 25 years of national parade participation; |
| 28 |
| and be it further

| RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
| 30 |
| presented to the Lawn Rangers as an expression of our respect |
