| WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of the |
| 3 |
| State of Illinois wish to congratulate Aurea (Audrey) Reed on |
| 4 |
| her work and numerous achievements during her tenure as |
| 5 |
| Executive Director of Centro de Informacion; and
|
| 6 |
| WHEREAS, Mrs. Reed was born in Bayamon, Puerto Rico; she |
| 7 |
| received her bachelor's degree in History and Christian |
| 8 |
| Religion in 1968 from Judson College and her master's degree in |
| 9 |
| Religion from Eastern Baptist Theological Seminary in 1970; and
|
| 10 |
| WHEREAS, She is married to Dan Reed and has three adult |
| 11 |
| sons; and
|
| 12 |
| WHEREAS, Mrs. Reed was employed as a home school bilingual |
| 13 |
| liaison for District U46 from 1991 to 1993; from 1993 to 1994, |
| 14 |
| she worked as a community/social worker at Children's Home and |
| 15 |
| Aid Society; and
|
| 16 |
| WHEREAS, Mrs. Reed's employment with Centro de Informacion |
| 17 |
| (Centro) began in 1994; she became Executive Director of Centro |
| 18 |
| in 1995; and
|
| 19 |
| WHEREAS, During Mrs. Reed's tenure as Executive Director at |
| 20 |
| Centro, the agency has gone from a deficit budget and |
| 21 |
| indebtedness to fiscal solvency and a budget exceeding half a |
| 22 |
| million dollars; she also aided in the reestablishment of |
| 23 |
| organization and professionalism in the agency's expanding |
| 24 |
| staff and the relocation of agency offices; and
|
| 25 |
| WHEREAS, Under Mrs. Reed's leadership, new programs, |
| 26 |
| including workshops, informational clinics, job fairs, and toy |
| 27 |
| giveaways, were started within the agency; the agency also |
| 28 |
| opened its Carpentersville satellite office; and
