HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of the State of Illinois wish to congratulate Aurea (Audrey) Reed on her work and numerous achievements during her tenure as Executive Director of Centro de Informacion; and

WHEREAS, Mrs. Reed was born in Bayamon, Puerto Rico; she received her bachelor's degree in History and Christian Religion in 1968 from Judson College and her master's degree in Religion from Eastern Baptist Theological Seminary in 1970; and

WHEREAS, She is married to Dan Reed and has three adult sons; and

WHEREAS, Mrs. Reed was employed as a home school bilingual liaison for District U46 from 1991 to 1993; from 1993 to 1994, she worked as a community/social worker at Children's Home and Aid Society; and

WHEREAS, Mrs. Reed's employment with Centro de Informacion (Centro) began in 1994; she became Executive Director of Centro in 1995; and

WHEREAS, During Mrs. Reed's tenure as Executive Director at Centro, the agency has gone from a deficit budget and indebtedness to fiscal solvency and a budget exceeding half a million dollars; she also aided in the reestablishment of organization and professionalism in the agency's expanding staff and the relocation of agency offices; and

WHEREAS, Under Mrs. Reed's leadership, new programs, including workshops, informational clinics, job fairs, and toy giveaways, were started within the agency; the agency also opened its Carpentersville satellite office; and

WHEREAS, Mrs. Reed has worked to create new partnerships for Centro in a quest to better serve the community, including partnerships with Sherman Hospital, Junior Service Board (Clothing Center), Community Crisis Center, Ecker Center, Renz Addiction Center, Girl Scouts, and EFS Bank; she has obtained funding for the agency from both the St. Charles and Northwest Suburban United Ways and established other funding sources; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Aurea (Audrey) Reed on her hard work and many accomplishments while serving as Executive Director of Centro de Informacion; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Aurea Reed as a token of our respect and esteem with best wishes on all future endeavors.
