| HOUSE RESOLUTION
|
| 2 |
| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
| 3 |
| Representative are honored to recognize significant milestones |
| 4 |
| in the lives of the people of this State; and
|
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, Jane Rowland, a longtime trustee of the Calumet |
| 6 |
| City Public Library, was recently elected to serve as president |
| 7 |
| of the Association of Library Trustees and Advocates, a |
| 8 |
| division of the American Library Association; and
|
| 9 |
| WHEREAS, A voracious reader since childhood and a member of |
| 10 |
| the library's board for more than a decade, she always has |
| 11 |
| believed the library is really the center of a community; the |
| 12 |
| institutions provide residents with a building that offers a |
| 13 |
| space for people to gather, host events, and obtain research |
| 14 |
| assistance; and
|
| 15 |
| WHEREAS, As a trustee, she was instrumental in securing a |
| 16 |
| $100,000 state grant for the library's new technology training |
| 17 |
| center, as well as $50,000 for after-school funding and other |
| 18 |
| educational programs; she is now working to secure funding for |
| 19 |
| a 10,000-square-foot expansion to the building; and
|
| 20 |
| WHEREAS, In addition to being active in library events and |
| 21 |
| advocacy nationwide, she works part-time in the offices of the |
| 22 |
| city's Emergency Service Disaster Agency; therefore, be it
|
| 23 |
| RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
| 24 |
| NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that |
| 25 |
| we recognize Jane Rowland's outstanding efforts and dedication |
| 26 |
| to the Calumet City Public Library and wish her the best in her |
| 27 |
| new position as president of the Association of Library |
| 28 |
| Trustees and Advocates; and be it further
