| HOUSE RESOLUTION
|

| WHEREAS, On April 25, 2005, Priscilla Galgan will be |
| 3 |
| retiring from service on the Orland School District 135 Board |
| 4 |
| of Education; and
|
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, She served on the board for five years, during |
| 6 |
| which time she chaired the Policy Committee and served on the |
| 7 |
| Building, Education, and Negotiations committees; she was also |
| 8 |
| the district's representative to the State and national school |
| 9 |
| board associations; and
|
| 10 |
| WHEREAS, During her tenure with the board, District 135 has |
| 11 |
| seen many notable achievements; among them are the opening of |
| 12 |
| Meadow Ridge School, the completion of the Orland Junior High |
| 13 |
| School renovation, improvements to school libraries and |
| 14 |
| playgrounds, and maintaining quality environments in all 10 |
| 15 |
| schools; she has been instrumental in the development and |
| 16 |
| implementation of a long-range plan for student achievement, as |
| 17 |
| well as in the evaluation and restructuring of all district |
| 18 |
| curriculums to align them with State standards and continue |
| 19 |
| consistency of instruction in all of the district's schools; |
| 20 |
| and
|
| 21 |
| WHEREAS, Ms. Galgan exemplifies the teamwork of the Board |
| 22 |
| of Education and the administration in allocating the |
| 23 |
| district's resources to maintain and enhance both programs and |
| 24 |
| facilities over the years, even in the face of dwindling |
| 25 |
| revenues, a dilemma that is affecting school districts |
| 26 |
| throughout the State; and |
| 27 |
| WHEREAS, She is married to Greg and is the mother of Jeff |
| 28 |
| and Mike; therefore, be it
