| HOUSE RESOLUTION
|
| 2 |
| WHEREAS, The House of Representatives recognizes that |
| 3 |
| methamphetamine abuse is best treated by the efforts of many |
| 4 |
| community agencies and entities, including, but not limited to, |
| 5 |
| law enforcement agencies, the courts, prosecuting and defense |
| 6 |
| attorneys, probation officers, treatment providers (both |
| 7 |
| secular and religious), local businesses, and family and |
| 8 |
| friends of the abusers; and
|
| 9 |
| WHEREAS, The Department of Public Health would best be |
| 10 |
| suited to develop a model community coalition protocol to |
| 11 |
| combat methamphetamine abuse; and
|
| 12 |
| WHEREAS, Many counties in northern Illinois have not |
| 13 |
| experienced the devastation that methamphetamine abuse has |
| 14 |
| wrought upon the counties of central and southern Illinois; and
|
| 15 |
| WHEREAS, These northern Illinois counties may not be aware |
| 16 |
| of the benefits of community-based efforts to combat |
| 17 |
| methamphetamine abuse; and
|
| 18 |
| WHEREAS, A statewide model of community coalition efforts |
| 19 |
| to combat methamphetamine abuse will provide those counties |
| 20 |
| with the knowledge and wherewithal to combat methamphetamine |
| 21 |
| abuse more effectively; therefore, be it
|
| 22 |
| RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
| 23 |
| NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that |
| 24 |
| we urge the Department of Public Health to develop a model |
| 25 |
| community coalition effort to combat methamphetamine abuse; |
| 26 |
| and be it further
|
| 27 |
| RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be presented to |
| 28 |
| the Director of Public Health.
