215 ILCS 5/370u new










    Amends the Health Care Reimbursement Article of the Illinois Insurance Code.  Provides that a health care provider that submits a completed standardized claim form for health care services to an insurer or administrator shall be deemed to have submitted a complete claim.  Provides that an insurer or administrator shall not request additional information from a provider submitting a completed standardized claim form more than once for that claim.

    AN ACT concerning insurance.

    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,

represented in the General Assembly:

    Section 5. The Illinois Insurance Code is amended  by adding 
5
Section 370u as follows:

    (215 ILCS 5/370u  new)
7
    Sec. 370u. Standardized claim forms; request for 
8
additional information.

    (a) Any provider submitting a completed standardized claim 
10
form for health care services to an insurer or administrator 
11
shall be deemed to have submitted a complete claim.
12
    (b) An insurer or administrator shall not request 
13
additional information from a provider submitting a completed 
14
standardized claim form more than once for that claim.

    (c) "Standardized claim form" means the current 
16
standardized claim form for health care services approved by 
17
the federal government.
