| Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,

| represented in the General Assembly:

| Section 5. The Public Safety Employee Benefits Act is |

| amended by changing Section 3 as follows:

includes, without limitation, a |

| licensed emergency medical technician (EMT) who

| member of a public fire department.

| With regard to law enforcement officers only, |

| "catastrophic injury" means any injury causing an officer to |
| 14 |
| qualify for a disability pension under Section 3-114.1 of the |
| 15 |
| Illinois Pension Code.
