| AN ACT concerning civil law.
|

| Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, |
| 3 |
| represented in the General Assembly:
|
| 4 |
| Section 5. The Landlord and Tenant Act is amended by |
| 5 |
| changing Section 1 as follows:
|
| 6 |

| Sec. 1. Every covenant, agreement or understanding in or in |
| 8 |
| connection
with or collateral to any lease of real property, |
| 9 |
| exempting the
the lessor from
liability for damages for |

| injuries to person or property caused by or
resulting from the |
| 11 |
| negligence of the lessor, his or her agents, servants or
|
| 12 |
| employees, in the operation or maintenance of the demised |
| 13 |
| premises or the
real property containing the demised premises |

| shall be deemed to be void as
against public policy and wholly |

| unenforceable. |
