| AN ACT concerning townships.
|
| 2 |
| Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
| 3 |
| represented in the General Assembly:
|
| 4 |
| Section 5. The Township Code is amended by changing Section |
| 5 |
| 30-140 as follows:
|
| 6 |
| (60 ILCS 1/30-140)
|
| 7 |
| Sec. 30-140. Regulation of certain occupations. In |
| 8 |
| counties with a
population of less than 3,000,000, The electors |
| 9 |
| may regulate hawkers, peddlers,
pawnbrokers, itinerant |
| 10 |
| merchants, and transient vendors of merchandise. The
township |
| 11 |
| board in those counties may require that any such person |
| 12 |
| register his
or her name and the name of any firm he or she |
| 13 |
| represents with the township
clerk and may make reasonable |
| 14 |
| restrictions of the hours during which he or she
may engage in |
| 15 |
| door-to-door solicitation. The township board in those |
| 16 |
| counties
also may prohibit the activities of any categories of |
| 17 |
| persons as it determines
to be in the best interest of township |
| 18 |
| residents. Any regulation under this
Section shall not apply |
| 19 |
| within the boundaries of a city, village, or
incorporated town.
