625 ILCS 5/11-1427.5 new










    Amends the Illinois Vehicle Code. Provides that a person under the age of 16 years may not operate an all-terrain vehicle with an engine larger than 90 cubic centimeters. Provides that the owner or person in possession of an all-terrain vehicle of that type may not knowingly permit a person under the age of 16 to operate it.

    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,

represented in the General Assembly:

    Section 5. The Illinois Vehicle Code is amended  by adding

Section 11-1427.5 as follows:

    (625 ILCS 5/11-1427.5  new)

    Sec. 11-1427.5. Adult-size all-terrain vehicles; operation 
8
by persons under 16 prohibited.

    (a) A person under the age of 16 years may not operate an 
10
all-terrain vehicle that has an engine larger than 90 cubic 
11
centimeters.

    (b) The owner or person in possession of an all-terrain 
13
vehicle with an engine larger than 90 cubic centimeters may not 
14
knowingly permit a person under the age of 16 years to operate 
15
that vehicle.
